DAY I

Day One:

Getting to Know Each Other, Erasmus+ Opportunities and Cultural Discovery

The first day of the NEXTTECH workshop, held from 16 to 20 October, brought participants together to get to know one another, explore international opportunities for young people and experience Çorum’s local culture.

The programme began with an opening presentation by project coordinator Mustafa Seyrek and an introduction to the NEXTTECH project. Following an overview of the programme and practical information, participants created their own name cards and shared their backgrounds, hobbies and interests. Icebreakers, team-building activities and energisers encouraged participants to connect and discover common interests. These activities helped create a learning environment where everyone could express themselves and feel part of the group, laying the foundations for communication, trust and collaboration throughout the workshop.

The afternoon programme took place at Çorumlu Obası. In a session facilitated by Mustafa Seyrek and Gizem Özlük, participants explored the opportunities offered by Erasmus+ and the European Solidarity Corps (ESC). Through questions, answers and shared experiences, the discussion highlighted how international mobility can support personal and professional development, intercultural communication and future aspirations. Participants also discussed their questions and concerns about taking part in mobility activities and explored ways to prepare with greater confidence.

During the cultural discovery activities, participants took part in traditional Turkish archery, printmaking and traditional clothing workshops. These hands-on experiences offered opportunities to explore the region’s cultural heritage, create together, exchange experiences and reflect on different cultural values. By taking the NEXTTECH learning experience beyond the workshop room, the activities encouraged participants to apply their communication and teamwork skills in a new setting. Cultural discovery thus became an integral part of the project’s shared learning experience.

The day concluded with İskilip dolması, one of Çorum’s signature dishes. A local chef introduced its history and traditional preparation before participants enjoyed the meal together.

Bringing together connection, exchange and cultural discovery, the first day provided a strong foundation for the collaborative activities to follow throughout the NEXTTECH workshop.
